Google's Experiment: Wonder Wheel

By: Navneet Kaushal

Google recently uncovered its Wonder Wheel experiment. It was an experiment based on Google's search results. To understand the experiment better...

...try to type a query comic books for instance, and then click on the Show Options link in the top blue bar. The moment you click on the link a side bar full of options will expand on the left. You'll find some known experiment in these options. You can sort them on the basis of relevance, date and time.

However, Wonder Wheel is the most interesting feature about this experiment. It will display a mini interactive flash based app. In the center you'll see your keyword and other related terms around it. The minute you click any of the related term, a new circle with more related terms are revealed.

Every time you click on a term, to the very right, you'll find your results being changed to display your current topic of focus.

It is possible that you'll find the experiment work pretty smooth, except when you try to go back to the previous page.

Here are some of the screenshots for the experiment:

The experiment is very simple, just go to google.com and paste the following prototype in the address bar and hit the enter button. It will set a cookie, which will inform Google that you're interested in taking part in the prototype.
