Yahoo! To Roll Out August 2008 Search Index Update! 
By: Navneet Kaushal 2008-08-05 Yahoo! has announced that it would be rolling out its 'Weather Update', that would include changes in the crawling, indexing and ranking algorithms. The expected update will continue... ...for a couple of days but Yahoo! expects to finish it soon. As usual, we are expecting numerous uncalled for ranking changes and page shuffling in the index, but Yahoo! Hopes to finish the update as soon as possible. However, according to Webmaster World, Webmasters are a bit more on the edge about this month's update than the one we had reported at the end of the month of June 2008. Here are some excerpts from a thread at Webmaster World: I do not know if this is limited to Italy, but I see different results today. Sites having the keyword in the urls are gaining positions. Internal anchor text links have more weight than ever Definitely something going on.. I've been tracking keywords daily for the last few weeks and have been noticing yoyo's, updates and rollbacks in 12 hour increments. I though it had something to do with their pain inclusion algo, but i really think it has to do with template identification algo. I got hit pretty hardwent from number 5 on a very competive 2 keyword term to number 20. OUCH. Not sure what is going on. My ranking on Google and MSN remain strong. Looks like Yahoo has been getting advice from Google. Screw up the results and force more small business into the advertising. Turmoil and screw-ups equal profits. looks pretty bad, the worse bunch of results I have seen on Yahoo. They are consistantly worse every 6 months. use ask.com Comments Tag: Yahoo!
