Do I Need An SEO Copywriter Or An SEO Company?

Youve heard and read enough about search engine optimization to know that your site needs it. And youve also heard that having keyword optimized copy on your webpages...

...is a fundamental necessity for success with the search engines.

So now youre wondering do I hire a search engine copywriter? Or do I need to splash out on an SEO company that will optimize my site top to bottom, doing everything from keyword selection to content writing to setting up incoming links?

Good question.

You need an SEO copywriter if:

-You have experience in SEO yourself or someone on your staff does. And by experience, I mean youve kept up to date on the latest in the field and have done SEO before with successful results.

-You have already chosen your keywords and know how you want to assign them to your webpages, or

-Your site has already been optimized and you need some new product pages or information pages written to update your message, or

-Your copy has been optimized but its not driving conversions. Much of the so-called optimized copy on the web was written for the search engines, not for human readers. But a good search engine copywriter knows how to create non-spammy, keyword optimized content that is informative, easy to read, and capable of generating actions/sales.

You need an SEO firm if:

-You dont have sufficient internal resources or expertise to do your own keyword research; optimize your own HTML code, tags and copy; analyze your web design for spider-ability; develop link popularity; and monitor the whole shebang over time so you can fine tune your strategy for consistently high rankings.

-Your business website is being built or rebuilt. This is the ideal time to bring in an SEO firm so they can help ensure the design and content are search engine friendly. Much cheaper and easier to optimize a site as its being built than tear it all down and start from scratch later on.

-Youre too busy running your business to take valuable time out to learn SEO and do it yourself. Youd like to outsource the job to professionals who know what theyre doing and can deliver on their promises. One less headache for you and your staff.

As you can imagine, doing either SEO or search engine copywriting in-house will save you money but only if your business has the expertise, time and resources to do it correctly the first go round. If not, youll end up spinning your wheels and wasting a lot of time instead of enjoying new traffic and conversions.
