Google Turns A Deaf Ear A member of the Digital Point Forums was, in his (or her) words, "Adsense spanked." Google apparently warned this person to stop conducting click fraud, and then disabled the account. This person, who claims to have been unaware of the fraud, posted an e-mail conversation in which Google more or less ignored his (or her) pleas for help. Date: 2006-07-31 New Crop Of Google Services Sighted Tony Ruscoe, a UK developer, had a "quick go" at Google's servers, and got a wealth of information out of that small expedition. Ruscoe discovered the names of fourteen services that, as he put it, "aren't currently available to your 'real' Google account." Date: 2006-07-28 Google Forges Ahead With Adsense For Radio Ads, brought to you courtesy of Google, are migrating from the computer and onto the airwaves. The company best known for its search engine appears to be moving ahead with its plans to bring Adsense to radio. Detroit is being used as a test market... Date: 2006-07-27 KartOO's Visual Meta Search KartOO does a good job of describing its "visual meta search engine" - simply put, the thing "presents its results on a map." It's a very interesting way to see information displayed, and, more to the point, it appears to work well... Date: 2006-07-26 Yahoo Leads In Pre-Roll Video Streams Research and Markets (the worlds largest market research resource) has released a report on pre-roll video (video streams preceded by ad units). According to their data, Yahoo has the largest share of the streams, followed TimeWarner, Microsoft, and Viacom. Date: 2006-07-25 Become.com Zooms In On Desired Results Become.com is making strides forward in its "mission to help people make ideal buying decisions." Input anything into the engine, and it will offer back results classified as product reviews, buying guides, discussion forums, or product details. Become has dubbed this filtering action "Search Zoom." Date: 2006-07-24 Zeitgeist Takes A Turn For The Darker The Google Zeitgeist was more bleak than usual this week, with several death- and violence-related incidents making the list. It's not all depressing, though - there's still a fair mixture of more upbeat (or just plain random) items... Yahoo! and MSN keep ramping up their offerings in order to take back some of that search share they keep losing to Google. How's it working for them? That's what an iTWire poll indicated, anyway - 88 percent of respondents said that yes, Google is "a serious threat" in this area. Apparently they didn't listen to Microsoft's Kevin Turner when he claimed, "We're not going to let Google win in the enterprise space..." Date: 2006-07-19 Google Having Issues In The UK The good people who have brought us Radiohead, Mr. Bean, and the Lotus car company are not being brought their Google. Not reliably, anyway. Users in the UK have been reporting on-and-off instances in which they cannot access various Google sites and services... Date: 2006-07-18 Google Local Visits The SERPs Some California listings have been appearing atop the search results on Google as an entry from Google Local, complete with map and business details... From their "do no evil" days forward, they just seem friendlier than a lot of other corporations. Now, Google has really convinced one blogger of their kind disposition... Date: 2006-07-06 Google Makes Arrangement With Sundance As if Google didnt already have enough going on, theyve joined hands with the Sundance Film Festival.
